hyperbole

it took four million years
and a river of tears
but i finally said i was through

on a stack of good books
ten feet tall, yes, i took
an oath promising i would be true

the whole world was there
every ear heard me swear
"nevermore will i lie, i decree"

but two seconds after
they all died of laughter
when i said, "except hyperbole!"
